About Us:
Ash the "Mighty"

Hello Everyone!
My name is Ash and I am one of the two photographers that you're most likely to run across at Mighty Charming Photography.
I was born and partially raised in one of the suburbs of Phoenix, Arizona but have lived throughout most of the Southwestern US and got my Master's Degree (in the ever-useful Medieval and Renaissance History) at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, UK.
One of the few birthdays (or maybe it was Christmas? 🤔) that I distinctly remember receiving a gift was when I was about 6 or 7 years old, and I got a point-and-click "Tomato" camera. I was extremely annoying and took photos of everyone. Poorly.
I won't tell you that my career in photography was a direct line from there, because I didn't really get back into it heavily until graduate school, when it was like I switch was flipped. I asked for "as cheap of a camera as you can find, as long as it's an SLR" for another birthday. That's what I got. It was a Nikon, and 20 years later, I am still shooting on Nikon as a result!
Just like when I was 7, I started taking photos of everyone. Poorly.
But I kept at it and before long I was winning "honourable mention" awards. I took my first paid photography gig that summer, and it has been a part of my life ever since.
I have since graduated to VERY expensive digital SLRs and though I split my time between photography and working in the tech world, capturing what I see in the world will always be my first love!
What I love to shoot:
When I am working, I like to capture moments. I am not as fond of staged portraiture. Instead, I like to wander around and photograph people having a conversation or holding hands, or even just looking at their phones. I like to capture life as it is actually happening.
When it is just for myself, it isn't that much different, but I like to do it when I'm out traveling to a different city or country. I like to see new and interesting places and capture little, interesting details on walls or doors. Street art that defines a city. Hawkers and street merchants.
I cannot wait to work with you! If you have any questions, there are buttons at the bottom of every page to get in touch with us. Please don't hesitate to use them.
Cheers,
~Ash.
